BMW teases plug-in i3 with new smartphone app images
Want to feel a little Mission Impossible-y? Then download BMW's new i3 electric vehicle app to your phone. It'll make you feel like you're controlling one of the cars used in the new action flick from the palm of your hand. Except, well, you can't actually get the app yet. All BMW's offering today are some teaser shots on the official Facebook page.
We saw some of these teaser images during our visit to learn all about the i3 and i8 back in July, but now we've got a clearer image of what the app can do, including updating you on the battery's state of charge, searching nearby points of interest (like, say, charging stations) and controlling your charging schedule to take advantage of overnight electricity rates. In other words, this is your standard EV smartphone app. It just looks like it belongs in the movies.
