HRT F111, the new 2011 Formula 1 Car

HRT F111 Formula 1 Car. HRT have shown their finished 2011 F1 car for the first time in Barcelona. The F111 will be raced by Vitantonio Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan this year. The HRT Formula One team on Friday finally revealed its new F111 Grand Prix challenger in Barcelona, although a lack of parts means it has not yet run on the Circuit de Catalunya where the other teams are testing.

HRT has been tire testing with its old car and had intended to take the new car to the Bahrain test on March 3-6, before events on the Persian Gulf island forced cancellation of the test as well as what would have been the first race of 2011. Instead, the F111 appeared on what would have been the first day of practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The F111 was designed in the U.K. by a team led by technical director and former Honda/Red Bull Racing man Geoff Willis, aided by chief designer Paul White, who is an ex-Jordan Grand Prix employee.

The car uses a 2010 Williams F1 gearbox, and like the other new teams that appeared last year, HRT will not have a kinetic-energy-recovery system this season. The chassis was made in Austria by CarboTech, and the car was built at the German base of Colin Kolles.
