Porsche Macan SUV, Named from Indonesian

Porsche Macan - Porsche AG will give the name of Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with the name Tiger. The German premium automobile manufacturer acknowledges the selection of the name comes from Indonesia. Macan in the English language is a 'tiger'.

"Macan of the Porshe has a meaning of strength, flexibility, and dynamic appeal. This is the core of our new SUV, "proud Bernhard Maier, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing Porsche AG.

“The Macan combines all sports car characteristics with the benefits of a SUV and is a genuine Porsche”, Maier said.

“The name of a new Porsche has to fit with the brand, sound good in very many languages and dialects and evoke positive associations.”

"In addition, Macan has a good meaning and easily pronounced," he added.

SUV Macan will be one of the main force for Porsche as part of marketing strategy in 2018. Macan hope to continue the Porsche Cayenne's success. Macan previously was remembered by Porsche with a Cajun name.

Porsche Macan SUV will begin production in 2013 at the Leipzig plant with an additional investment of 500 million euros. Accompanying the announcement is the first set of teasers for the new model, including a stylised concept sketch (complete with the requisite 35-inch wheels). Porsche AG also released a teaser video on You Tube.
